Project Management System
To ensure the achievement of customers’ requirements and for efficient management of work during the execution of projects, we have developed and implemented in the UTEM Group of companies a Corporate Project Management System (CPMS).
When creating a Project Management System we have taken into account the best modern standards and guidelines of international organizations such as PMI, IPMA, ISO, as well as own wide experience in execution of integrated projects and programmes.
The implementation of each of our customers’ project is under control of professional teams – Project Management Units, which are composed of personnel who are the experts in specific disciplines. Such teams, selected on the basis of the specific character and size of a particular project, perform the management, planning and coordination of all project activities, including the preparation of project documentation, procurement of equipment and materials, construction and installation, start-up and commissioning activities. In the course of the project, the Project Management Unit cooperates and coordinates its participants:
- Designers
- Subcontractors
- Suppliers
- Customer’s departments
- State agencies
- other parties involved
Every complex project contains thousands of operations connected with each other by tens of thousands of links. To effectively track the situation, make sound decisions, not disrupt the timetable and not exceed the budget in such a project using traditional methods, without the information system and trained personnel, would be simply not realistic.
The most sophisticated project management processes in our company are automated through the application of specialized software applied by leading international construction and engineering companies. Planning and follow-up of projects is supported by an Integrated Corporate Project Management Information System (ICPMS), which includes the network scheduling module Primavera P6 Professional Project Management, budgeting and accounting module Intalev Corporate Finance, as well as a contracting support module.
The use of ICPMS allows the project team to focus on high-priority tasks (critical path activities) and concurrently keep in view an overall picture, as well as to make the most of available resources, timely coordinate activities of performers, troubleshoot conflicts and resolve the emerging issues until they developed into problems.
For all key project management processes in the company there are formalized and corporate standards, the compliance with which is constantly monitored by the Project Management Office.
Project managers and staff of project management units regularly upgrade their qualifications in the project management at the UTEM Training Centre - one of the leading Ukrainian corporate universities that provides training to both the company’s specialists and the personnel of our partner companies with whom we jointly achieve the goals incorporated into projects.
The company’s senior staff have validated their expertise through the certification at the Ukraine’s Project Management Association, having obtained an internationally recognized certificates of project management professionals of "C" and “D” levels.
Since 2007, the company's Project Management System is certified for the compliance with Level III of project management maturity in accordance with the SR3M model system of Ukrainian Project Management Association - the national branch of the International Project Management Association (IPMA). Today, UTEM is one of the few companies in Ukraine and the FSU countries that has proved such a high level of project management maturity.
